Our Sunshine

“Three things remain with us from paradise: stars, flowers and children.” — Dante Alighieri

Estella – our star – came along at a unique time. Our pandemic baby was truly a surprising gift, Estella is less than sixteen months younger than her older sister Avalon. We are so grateful to have her in our lives, and I wanted some portraits to remind me of this special pregnancy.

Melissa and Juan welcome a baby girl!

“A baby is God’s opinion that life should go on.” — Carl Sandburg

Melissa and Juan are expecting their second child. They have a gorgeous little boy together and were ecstatic to be expecting a daughter they are naming Mia Mor. I absolutely loved their creative name choice since ‘mi amor’ in Spanish means ‘my love.’ These baby bump/family photos turned out just as whimsical and fun as the Abrego family!

Veronica’s Baptism and First Birthday!

“Every child born into the world is a new thought of God, an ever fresh and radiant possibility.” – Kate Douglas Wiggins

Photographing Veronica for her first birthday was so special. I had photographed her parents’s wedding, her mother’s maternity shoot, her newborn photos, and I was so grateful to be able to photograph her first birthday. Not only was it Veronica’s birthday, but it was her baptism! A true blessing.

May the Force be with you

“Remember, Your focus determines your reality.” – Star Wars

Halloween is my favorite holiday. I love the colorful costumes, the stage make up, the excitement and revelry. Our family loves Star Wars! Not only did my kids dress as characters from the new Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens, for Halloween but we went to see the movie dressed up as characters.

A Family Affair!

I come from a large family, I have four brothers, and my husband and I have four children – so when I was booked for a large multigenerational family portrait session I was delighted!

I’ll admit even though I was eager for the shoot, I was a bit worried how we’d manage to get all the sweet, summery shots I wanted for this family of 13. The day prior to the session it was pitch black and rained from dawn to dusk, my eagerness was melting into anxiety.

I so hoped that the next day would be a beautiful one, I knew several of the family members were driving in from out of town and rescheduling wasn’t in the cards. Luckily, the weather on our photo day was picture perfect, slightly overcast, and while it was humid it kept the heat index down.

With five small children and eight adults so many things can go awry – but they didn’t. The adults were jovial, joking with each other and the kids. The photos turned out lovely – from the coordinating colors to posing ideas, everybody was on the same page.

The photographs captured easy, natural interactions, candid laughs and sweet smiles.

Here comes the Sun – Rock n’ Roll Kids

I absolutely love themed photo shoots and this rock n’ roll session in an abandoned coral rock castle with my children was one of my favorites!

The Diaz Family – Art Walk with Daddy

Vivian wanted some memorable photos of her husband Mario with their gorgeous little girl Luna for Father’s Day. Wynwood was the perfect spot for this colorful, lively couple and their bright baby girl.

Despite the heat this trio was upbeat and amazing, and we captured the easy, loving relationship between Mario and Luna. We even got some great candid shots of all three of them against Miami’s chic murals.

Melissa and John’s Sunset Maternity Session – Baby Makes Four!

When I was told John and Melissa were expecting their second child I was so thrilled for them! I’d done mini-sessions with their daughter Delaney, but we hadn’t done a full portrait session since their engagement photos in 2010. When Melissa told me she wanted maternity photos I was beyond excited!

The weather was overcast, hot and humid – in other words a typical south Florida summer evening – but Melissa, John and Laney were all in great spirits and their session is one of my all time favorite maternity shoots!

Jake’s First Communion

I’ve been photographing Jake for the last several years and I was so ecstatic to be taking his First Holy Communion photos. He is growing into such a bright young man, and it is always a pleasure to spend time with him.

Veronica’s Very First Easter!

The Jorva family is always one of my favorites to photograph. From their engagement session to their wedding and maternity portraits, Annia is one of the most creative women I’ve met. She’s always bustling with fun new ideas to photograph her growing family. Her husband Alex is as sweet as can be and their girls, Juliet and Veronica are too pretty for words.

This Easter was baby Veronica’s first and I think we captured the soft, sugary sweetness of her infant smile and the joy she brings to her family.
