A Family Affair!

I come from a large family, I have four brothers, and my husband and I have four children – so when I was booked for a large multigenerational family portrait session I was delighted!

I’ll admit even though I was eager for the shoot, I was a bit worried how we’d manage to get all the sweet, summery shots I wanted for this family of 13. The day prior to the session it was pitch black and rained from dawn to dusk, my eagerness was melting into anxiety.

I so hoped that the next day would be a beautiful one, I knew several of the family members were driving in from out of town and rescheduling wasn’t in the cards. Luckily, the weather on our photo day was picture perfect, slightly overcast, and while it was humid it kept the heat index down.

With five small children and eight adults so many things can go awry – but they didn’t. The adults were jovial, joking with each other and the kids. The photos turned out lovely – from the coordinating colors to posing ideas, everybody was on the same page.

The photographs captured easy, natural interactions, candid laughs and sweet smiles.

The Diaz Family – Art Walk with Daddy

Vivian wanted some memorable photos of her husband Mario with their gorgeous little girl Luna for Father’s Day. Wynwood was the perfect spot for this colorful, lively couple and their bright baby girl.

Despite the heat this trio was upbeat and amazing, and we captured the easy, loving relationship between Mario and Luna. We even got some great candid shots of all three of them against Miami’s chic murals.

Jake and Zack’s Hang Ten Holiday session

Who says holiday photos have to be posed around trees and fireplaces with Santas and sleds? Here in South Florida the sun is (almost!) always shining, and the beaches are open year round. Floridians live in a culture of perennial sports and summer skin, so when Jake and Zack wanted photos skateboarding on the beach for their Christmas pictures I thought – why not?

Julian’s Third Birthday – Constructing Sweet Memories!

Suzzell and I went to middle to school together, but I hadn’t been in touch with her in forever, so when she contacted me about photographing her oldest son Julian’s third birthday I was beyond elated!

Julian’s birthday party was immensely imaginative and fun. All the food, decorations and goody bags were perfectly on pointe with the construction theme. Julian had a blast and I loved being able to snap shots while everybody enjoyed themselves!

One of my favorite things about event photography is the amount of colorful candid photos you can capture if you just step back and watch people interact, it truly lends itself to some sweet memories.

The Prieto Family –

Jessica and Rolando have the most gorgeous family, and I was thrilled to be shooting their family session. Their three children are not only beautiful but some of the most well behaved I’ve met! Jessica’s younger sister and her best friend also took part in the photo shoot, and I think these pictures capture what a fun, playful and loving extended family they are.

Felix’s Rodeo Birthday – Cowboys, Cotton Candy and Horses – oh my!

Some photographers aren’t fans of event work, they deem it ‘inartistic’ – but I enjoy it to the fullest! Meeting new people, watching families create memories, capturing great candid shots that show tender moments between different generations – event shoots hold a special place in my heart.

For Felix’s first birthday his parents planned this wild west theme to a tee – every detail was picture perfect and on theme. Everybody had a wonderful time, and I was so pleased to preserve these special memories!
